End of Summer

Well, just dropped kids off at school so summer is officially over. The boys spent their last week and a half hiking with friends, going to the circus and getting into trouble at home... First Dean banged his head hard on the corner of the windowsill bad enough to require 2 staples. He was very brave at the ER and "Staples" is his now new nickname. Then, the boys got into coloring themselves with markers (that were very difficult to wash off) and finally, on the night before the first day of school, they gave each other haircuts. Lets just say I don't see hair styling in their future. Glad the school year is finally here before anything else happens!

at least they caught the hair clippings

East Coast Part II

The day we checked out of the McCullough beach house, we drove 1 mile to check in to a different house where we stayed with the Pelaez side of the family. We had the shocking news of Rich & Jill's baby #4 after she stepped out of the car sporting a 4 month old belly! The boys had a great time all week hanging out with their cousins, but they were pretty done with the beach by week 2. I did drag them out there once, only to have Morgan sulk and complain about how hot it was the whole time. That boy is more of an indoor type : ) We did manage to peak his interest when we took the kids to bumper cars, putt-putt and go karting during the week. Morgan drove his first solo car and loved it! Owen captivated all the kids, lecturing about food and making them exercise for his "healthy eating school." Although we certainly did not eat the most healthy with our week of BBQ, donuts, DQ, fried seafood and pizza : )

More Duck Donuts. Did I mention I gained weight?

On the drive back to Maryland, we passed a place with Monster Truck rides and thought, why not? Of course the boys approved and had fun riding mini trucks and then all four of us took a bouncy ride on the Grave Digger.

Once in Maryland, we drifted between Rich & Jill's and Linda & Bobby's houses, and even got a couple nights away at our old house where Ed and I were able to have a couple dates at some of our old stints. We also got a chance to catch up with some old friends - wish we could've seen more : (
the old nursery in Bethesda. Dean doesn't remember the mural Nana & mommy made!
Jaleo's white sangria, I missed you!
Scharfenburger sundae, mmmm.....
Reunion at the Hadlock's
I got to meet sweet baby Sydney!

The trip all culminated in a huge family gathering for Bobby's 60th Birthday with performances by the kids and a send off brunch at New Fortune. Dean took on the role of photographer at the party and actually has a good eye - it's just that he's 3.5ft tall : )

This is the beginning of Dean's gallery:

just the right height for this one!
first self portrait : )
Ok, I think I had the camera back now...
all of Payton's freshly baked treats - my favorite was the carrot cake!

It was fun to see all our family and friends - we miss you! Actually, not 5 minutes after we landed at the Austin Airport, Morgan said he missed his cousins : ) We are now thoroughly exhausted and trying to get back on routine before school starts in 1 week, yikes! Goodbye summer 2015!
