Santa Was Here

Morgan was the first to awake on Christmas morning, and oddly got dressed (habit I guess?) before coming down at 7:30 to peek under the tree. He immediately ran back upstairs to wake Dean, then they excitedly woke us up with anticipation. Morgan said Santa had brought "more presents than ever before". After downing some muffins, Morgan first checked his stocking which was empty (how could I forget the stockings?????) but it was ok since there were so many under the tree. Morgan was good about reading the labels and passing out gifts. The boys got the stuff they had hoped for, plus some other fun surprises.  We pretty much spent the rest of the day playing with and setting up toys. At one point in the afternoon, Ed tried to get them out on their bikes but it was not tempting enough to part them with their new toys. Thank you Santa's helpers for making what Morgan put as his "Top 5" Christmases ; )

Friday night, we drove out the Marble Falls to check out the Walkway of Lights along the river. It was cute and the kids enjoyed it until the last 5 mins when Morgan's lack of following directions led to a spiraling meltdown and we promptly had to leave. Oh well.

Let it Snow

Yesterday, a load of snow was delivered outside Bee Caves' City Hall and swarms of people descended to get their hands on the only snow they'll probably see all season. Donning mittens (and socks), the boys built a tiny snowman and enjoyed pelting mom and dad with icy snowballs. Dean even managed to make a snow angel among the chaos. Afterwards, Morgan went on one of those bungee bouncy trampoline rides and couldn't get enough of jumping sky high. Dean on the other hand, would go nowhere near it.

Later that night, we met up with friends at the Zilker Christmas Tree. This year, there was also a ferris wheel that provided pretty views of the city skyline and Trail of Lights below. We decided enjoying the Trail of Lights from afar was enough for us this year.

the Zilker Tree is the largest man-made xmas tree in the world

School Holiday Conerts

Well, school has ended for the year, but not before both boys had class parties and song performances. Morgan sang along with all the other kindergarteners the other night and did very well - no sign of stage fright in a cafeteria full of parents and families holding up their cell phones and cameras. Go here to see one of the songs he sang.

Dean's class had an informal performance during the party after all the kids were hyped up on sugar. Dean was more interested on his hand signs than singing though. See it here.

Did I mention my kids are at bilingual schools??? : )

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

The holiday season has begun and with it, seasonal activities such as putting up the tree, riding the holiday train at the mall and attending Chuy's Blue Santa Parade. We hope to check some holiday lights off the list this weekend...
