July 4th

July 3rd, Dean's school had a parade with music, marching and handmade flags and decorations. The kids were funny, following Azgad, one of the owners, not sure what to expect or do as all the parents looked on. Dean followed suit with a concerned look on his face and a red stripe from his construction paper hat dangling in his eye.

We headed to the Circuit of the Americas for the fourth. They had some cars on display, live music from the Austin Symphony and food trucks among other activities. We took a picnic and went with our friend Charles and his daughter Bentley. The kids ran around and played as the sun set and luckily the rain stayed away. Because of the masses of people and the past due bed times, we opted to take the tram back to the parking lot early and watch the fireworks from the car. Guess a lot of other people had the same idea because seconds after the fireworks were finished (which were pretty good by the way), cars were jockeying for position. 1 hour and 2 sleeping kids later, we finally emerged from the main exit to make our way home. Luckily next year, the fireworks will move back to Auditorium Shores where we'll be able to walk or bike home.
