We had back to back visitors in April: first, my dad came for a long weekend and so, off we went (again) to Horseshoe Bay. This time we explored the lake a little more by renting a pontoon boat. The lake was much larger than we realized and it was neat to see it from the perspective of the water. The winds lulled Dean to sleep, but not before Ed and Poppy valiantly saved his flip flop that fell overboard : ) Both boys enjoyed steering the boat. They also had fun doing puzzles with Poppy, going out the eat and playing tennis on the kiddie courts.

So much for relaxing Poppy : ) |
Then it was Aria and Payton's turn to check out Horseshoe Bay (can you tell we like sharing this place with friends and family???) Steve surprised them with their first trip to Texas for their Spring Break and we pretty much spent most our time at the lake. The kids loved the pools - us Texans were too wimpy to go in the non-heated pool, but the Californians thought it felt great! We also went to the beach, played games, had ice cream, did the arcade, fed the ducks, went on a hike and played cops and robbers on the field. Pay and Aria also went on a banana boat while Ed and Morgan rode a jet ski (Morgan wanted to take it faster and faster!) Dean, Steve and I tagged along in the boat pulling the banana boat. Before long, Steve jumped in the water and joined the kids. And of course we couldn't let them leave Texas without a little BBQ so we hit Salt Lick before heading back to the city. It was great for the cousins to bond. Dean couldn't get enough of Pay and was always his shadow. The night before they left, I caught the kids staying up late -- Aria in bed reading with Morgan and Pay in bed reading with Dean.
