Feb/March Meanderings

Well, it's quickly become Spring and the boys continue to keep us busy. Morgan had a huge long term project due - a "living" museum in which each 2nd grader researched and dressed up as a famous person, made a poster and presented a speech. On the final day of the project, all the kids were lined up around the perimeter of the cafeteria and people could go through, pushing the "button" on each poster to hear each student's speech. I was really impressed - the kids worked hard and it was well done. Morgan was Barack Obama and did an awesome job!

The boys also performed their instruments for the first time on stage at a low-key performance class. Morgan sang and played piano for "Radioactive" while Dean sang and played guitar for "A Thousand Times". They waited until it was only the 2 of them left to go, but I was proud of them for being brave and getting up there.

We also had Morgan's last basketball game of the season. They may not have been the best team, but they had fun!

We also did a lot of hanging with friends - including playdates, a nerf gun party and a weekend in Horseshoe Bay with George, Henaris and Mika. They had a motor boat they hauled up and George, Dean and Ed went fishing one afternoon for like 6 hours. Dean loved it so much, he didn't want to come back! We also took the boys to see the new Lego Batman movie, and Dean has been drawing up a storm. His drawings have gotten more and more detailed and his room is running out of wall space!

In more drawing news, Morgan was selected for the district art show. We went and saw his oil pastel butterfly on display - he was very proud : )

Also in the past month, I've helped out at the school, reading to Dean's class on Dr. Seuss' Birthday and chaperoning on field trips, including the library and the Blanton Art Museum.
