Chicago Getaway

Ed had a convention to Chicago this past week and I had never been, so I happily tagged along (thanks to Paulina for taking the kids)! Unfortunately, a long plane delay cut our first day way short, so it was ended up being just a day and a half, but we lucked out with beautiful weather as we had dinner at Benny's Steakhouse, checked out Millennium Park, walked the Magnificent Mile, had lunch at the Signature Room at the top of the John Hancock Tower (what a view!), and took an architecture boat tour. And of course I had to have a Chicago-style deep dish pizza before we left! It was a short but sweet trip, would definitely go again!

Boo! Trump Tower!
95th Floor! My ears popped
on the architecture tour
Navy Pier which we never made it to...

the ingredients are put on backwards: toppings on the bottom, then cheese, then sauce! I still prefer Ledo's : )

Cinco de Morgan

Morgan's 9th birthday landed on a Saturday this year, but that didn't stop me from bringing treats to his class the day before, which happened to be Cinco de Mayo...

When we got home from school that day, Dean happened to see half an avocado sitting on the kitchen counter and proclaimed "Hey! I just learned how to make guacamole today for Cinco de Mayo, let's make some!" So we did : ) And it actually turned out pretty good!

For Morgan's birthday, we had a party at Dart'em Up, the new nerf gun arena in town. Poppy and Melody were able to join and we had the arena all to ourselves, which worked out since most of the adults got in on the fun too! Afterwards, I heard Morgan say as he walked out "That was awesome!" which is the best thing you can hear from your kids mouth after you spend a fortune on a birthday party... at least it was worth it!

the banner that Dean made Morgan : )

Opening presents back at home...
even Dean got some gifts for his half birthday

It was a great day - thanks to everyone for making it special for our Morgan : )
