Summer-A-Thon Part II: Atlanta

At the end of June, we set out on our 5 week expedition, taking 2 days to drive from Austin to our first stop: Atlanta. While en route, I was blessed to spend my actual 40th bday waking up in Beaumont, TX and spending hours on the road with complaining boys before staying the night in Mobile, AL. We did manage to find a kid-friendly nice restaurant to celebrate though : ) Upon arriving at dad's, I was welcomed with a surprise bday cake! We had a fun week at Poppy's going to the pool, checking out the Fernbank Museum, playing lots of Rummicube, seeing Steven's new place downtown, seeing a show at the Center for Puppetry Arts, going to a comedy club with Steven, and attending an Atlanta Braves game on July 4th. It was a looooong game but were rewarded with the amazing fireworks display at the end. And out of the 50,000 fans, the boys made the Jumbotron! It was a fun-filled week and just great to spend time with Poppy and Steven. The boys created a "Team Banana" bond with their Uncle Steven. I don't even know what that means, but they are the only members of their little secret society. Dean even designed their own team flag.

Thanks Poppy and Steven for a fun week! It was great to spend some quality time together. And just like that, it was on the road to Chapel Hill...
