Fall Highlights

The stream of visitors continued through the fall: Poppy came in town for a couple days on business and stayed at the new JW Marriott downtown. We were able to meet up for lunch and that night, he was kind (and crazy) enough to offer to have the boys sleep over, all sharing the same King bed no less. The boys were psyched and let's just say Poppy didn't sleep that well. The next day was Veteran's day, so the boys didn't have school AND were able to watch the Veteran's Parade from the vantage point of Poppy's hotel window. Score! Thanks Poppy : )

 Uncle Steve was also able to schedule a quick visit around a business trip. It was great to catch up with him and sadly he lost the BBQ eating contest to Morgan : )

The Fall also brought fun things like the kid's school's annual Fall Fest where they played games, won prizes and ate yummy foods. Then, on the Thursday before Thanksgiving, we were able to have a Thanksgiving lunch with the kids during their lunch periods in the cafeteria.

The Invasions of Nana, Minions, and Uncle Steven

After Halloween, Nana was able to spend a whole week with us that included some mother/daughter time, her 66th birthday and culminated with Dean's 5th birthday party. Throughout the week, she was able to see Dean playing tennis, have lunch with the boys at school, attend a couple art events with me, see a movie and was a tremendous help with the party prep. She was even kind enough to babysit one night so that Ed and I could go to the AWOLNATION concert (my birthday present for Ed). The boys enjoyed their Nana time and although they were a little weirded out when the Minions crashed Dean's party, they still managed to have a good time : ) On Nana's last night, our big 5 year old boy decided he was ready to try a hamburger and surprised us when he ate every last bite! He's already said he's in the mood for another : ) On Sunday, Uncle Steven took a break from Fun, Fun, Fun Fest and came over for brunch. It was good to see him and the boys of course wouldn't leave him alone.

Halloween-ish

A rainy fall and weekend colds have cut some of our usual Halloween traditions short, but we still managed to get to a local pumpkin patch, carve pumpkins, see some Dia de los Muertos festivities, and of course, trick-or-treat. Nana was able to join us Halloween day and got in on the fun - she was race car driver Morgan's pit crew (which came in handy when Morgan crashed once) while I was a package delivered by UPS men Dean and Daddy. We covered a few neighborhood blocks before heading back home to hand out candy.
